Voice Chat
Voice Chat is something that is usable in all team based game modes (Team FFA, CTF & Siege).
It is VERY USEFUL for communicating with your team, if used properly, since accurate communication is often the key to success.
Remember that binding these commands to keys saves a lot of time and should be part of your team cfg files.
These are the Voice Commands. Note that some of them are not listed in the in-game menu, so again, binding them to keys (such as the Function keys F1-F12 may be a good idea)

When the appropriate key is pressed (or clicked on from the Voice Chat Menu), a "Voice Chat Icon" will appear briefly over your head, which nearby teammates can see and the sound will play. If bound correctly the sounds should only be heard by teammates, and the farther away the person is, the quieter it may sound. Additionally a "description text" will appear along with your name and be sent to all teammates.
One deficiency of Voice Chat is that it does not reveal the location of the speaker. Thus text-based Team Chat is still important.
Remember also that you cannot Voice Chat while in Spectator Mode.
Good rules of thumb for team communication:
1) Don't say it, say_team it!
Believe it or not, many new players make this mistake. Using the normal \say command will broadcast your text to everyone in the game! To keep your communications private from the enemy team, use \say_team instead.
The default color for text changes based on the mode it's in.
2) Recognize the colors!
Normal text (people can of course change the colors if they want to).
Team text. This is sent by teammates to you!
Private text. This is text sent by someone directly to you by name. You'll also notice that the text is bracketed (within [ ]'s).
3) Don't spam it, make it count!
Most servers thankfully have flood control turned on. Don't say stuff for no reason, remember the story of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf"? If you don't give accurate information, teammates may stop listening to you. So try to be accurate.
4) Read the whole line, you'll be glad you did!
In Siege this is especially important. Whenever a person says something, their location is listed as part of the text message. For example if someone is in the Blue Crystal Room on Korriban, their text message will say their name and "Blue Crystal Room" (or similar) in the line. Take note! This reflects the info displayed on your Team Overlay as well.
5) Remind politely of things people should know for gameplay's sake...
Oftentimes in the heat of combat the teams will become unbalanced (2 vs 4, 3 vs 5, 4 vs 6, 5 vs 7, 6 vs 8, etc). If one team has two more players than another, it's time for somebody to switch. Remind people by saying "Even Teams Please" or "Balance the Teams" or something similar.
Usually the person with the lowest score or who's been in the game the shortest period of time should be the one to switch. If nobody else does, do the right thing and click "AutoJoin" to balance it. Maybe notify your team first so you don't have several people switching at once to make it still unbalanced.
Remember, there's no honor in joining the winning side, just because they are winning and already have enough people!
Also, you will often run into "newbies" who don't know how to play CTF or Siege or who just don't get team gaming in general (they attack their teammates, try to destroy own objectives, etc). Instruct them in private how to play, but do it quickly and clearly, because they may raise the ire of the other players and lead to a kick. Remember we were all "n00bs" once!
